Yamase ni fukareta mura: Shashin kiroku 1976-1982
In the late 70s and early 80s some areas in northern Japan experienced unseasonably cold weather resulting in a series of devastating crop-failures. There were also problems with new crops and artificial fertilizers. The fields in the afflicted regions were dubbed 'the green wastelands'. Many agricultural communities were shaken to the core and the present is another evocative record by Hanabusa Shinzo on contemporary social and economic problems, areas that were regarded as taboos in Japan at the time. Only one copy in OCLC. (Titus Boeder, 4/07)
