Room 95 label text: PDF 458 Water-pot in the form of a lotus This porcelain water-pot is modelled in the form of a lotus leaf with an insect on one side, surrounded by stems with a bud and seed pod resting at the top of the leaf. There are incised lines that accent the form of the leaf. During the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries porcelains made as amusing trompe l’oeil artefacts were extremely popular. Underfired porcelain, incised, applied moulded decoration and with transparent glaze South China 中國南部 Qing dynasty, about AD 1800–1900
